Das 13. Internationale Kolloquium der Association Internationale pour la Peinture Murale Antique (AIPMA) fand vom 12. bis zum 16. September 2016 an der Universität Lausanne statt. Sein Ziel war es, den Kenntnisstand betreffend antiker Wandmalerei darzustellen, der in 30 Jahren Forschung erreicht worden war. Der Buchtitel nimmt also Bezug auf das 3. Internationale Kolloquiums, jenes von 1986 in Avenches. Der Band enthält 75 Beiträge in Deutsch, Englisch, Spanisch, Französisch und Italienisch zu Wandmalerei-Werken im gesamten Mittelmeerraum sowie in den weiteren römischen Provinzen. Die Zeitspanne reicht vom Hellenismus bis in die Spätantike, mit Schwergewicht römische Zeit. Inhaltlich werden die Themen früherer AIPMA-Kolloquien aufgegriffen: Functional and Spatial Analysis, Temi figurativi, Circulación de temas y sistemas decorativos, Zeitstil und Lokalstil, Context and Meaning. Der Band vermittelt Resultate von Untersuchungen und Diskussionen in einem Themenbereich, der sich in den letzten 30 Jahren ausserordentlich entwickelt hat, in dem aber weitere Studien und Forschungen unerlässlich sind.
Le 13e colloque de l‘Association Internationale pour la Peinture Murale Antique (AIPMA) s’est tenu à l‘Université de Lausanne du 12 au 16 septembre 2016. Ce colloque a eu comme ambition de proposer un état des connaissances sur la peinture murale antique, après plus de 30 ans d’activités et de développement de la discipline. Le titre des Actes fait en effet référence à la 3e rencontre internationale d‘Avenches, en 1986. Le volume offre donc – en allemand, anglais, espagnol, français, italien – 75 synthèses et éclairages sur les productions picturales de l‘ensemble du bassin méditerranéen, tant d‘époque hellénistique que romaine – celle-ci constituant l‘essentiel du corpus – au regard des différents grands thèmes abordés antérieurement à l’AIPMA: Functional and Spatial Analysis, Temi figurativi, Circulación de temas y sistemas decorativos, Zeitstil und Lokalstil, Context and Meaning. On trouvera ici le fruit de vives réflexions sur un domaine en plein épanouissement, mais dont la maturité nécessite encore maints développements sectoriels.
The 13th conference of the Association Internationale pour la Peinture Murale Antique (AIPMA) was held from
12 to 16 September 2016 at the University of Lausanne. It aimed to propose the state of knowledge that has been achieved after more than 30 years of developing the discipline of studying ancient wall paintings. The title of the volume of proceedings of the conference in fact refers back to the 3rd inter national conference at Avenches in 1986. The volume contains 75 syntheses and papers in German, English, Spanish, French and Italian, on pictorial productions from the entire Mediterranean Basin from the Hellenistic and Roman periods – and mainly from the latter – with particular emphasis on the overall themes previously tackled by the AIPMA: Functional and Spatial Analysis, Temi figurativi, Circulación de temas y sistemas decorativos, Zeitstil und Lokalstil, Context and Meaning. The book gives readers an opportunity to study the results of detailed explorations in an area of research that is thriving but has yet to be further developed in certain areas if it is to come to its full fruition.
